The training, held in Hargeisa, aimed to strengthen participantsโ professional skills in ethical reporting, newsroom practices, and the core principles of journalism. The sessions provided participants with practical knowledge on news writing, fact-checking, accuracy, balance, and the importance of adhering to journalistic ethics in the pursuit of credible reporting.
Facilitated by experienced media professionals and trainers from both FIMO and CDG, the program emphasized the vital role of journalists in promoting transparency, accountability, and good governance within society. It also encouraged collaboration among media institutions to enhance information dissemination and support democratic development in Somaliland.
In her closing remarks, FIMOโs Executive Director highlighted the importance of continuous capacity building for journalists, particularly in an era where misinformation and digital challenges can affect media credibility. She applauded the participants for their active engagement and urged them to apply the skills gained in their daily reporting.
Representatives from CDG also reiterated their commitment to working closely with media organizations to promote responsible journalism and strengthen the role of the press as a cornerstone of democracy.
